Versace for H&M Strategy for Debut

Hi Beautiful People!

So, there has been a flurry of press this last week leading up to the Versace for H&M debut in the US this coming Saturday Nov 19. My girls at SFSU have been telling me all week about how they heard about it here or there. Im really not happy about all this press…it just means it will be that much harder for me to get anything from this line.

One detail that I just learned is that the clothes will be available in sizes 4-12. So there will be something for our rubenesque friends! The California Girls are the most fortunate as the collection will be carried in a whopping EIGHT stores (two in the SF Bay Area where I live: SF and SanHO!) Also, H&M made me soo happy because they are limiting each customer to TWO of each garment or accessory. At least we won’t find eight of the Versace for H&M neclace we wanted on eBay sold by one seller (I hate those damn ebayers). Customers can only purchase TWO of the same object regardless of the size.

I called the H&M store in Union Square (San Francisco) this past tuesday and was told that the Men’s collection will be public but the women’s  would be in the lingerie and people would be let in by groups by wristband only. Ok. That I can handle. I am willing to get up and wait for more than six hours to get that Versace bracelet that I want. The important thing to note is that ONLY the first 280 individuals in line will receive a wristband to enter the women’s section. Groups will be let in 20 at a time in order of arrival. Yes, I am determined to be one of the 280 in San Francisco. I would like to be in the first group of 20–we’ll see how that goes for me. I believe that I have narrowed my wish list down to several items. I have decided that I absolutely LOVE the Pelle Borchie items in the women’s collection. If I could have my choice I would purchase the black and gold skirt  ($129) and  sleeveless top with the design (never worn together). I will fight for this top ($50) though. OK, so a cotton jersey top for $50 is not entirely fierce frugal fashion..but it is authentic brand-new Versace for crying out loud. Throw me a bone ladies! The other Pelle Borchie top is also chic, subtle, and gorgeous, but also $70 because it is woven silk. I would rather save the $20 to apply for a piece of jewelery (that is fiercefrugalfashion).

The Pelle Borchie  leather jackets are ABSOLUTEY TO DIE FOR! There is a trench coat and motorcycle jackets in both zipup or button. Of all three I like zipup moto jacket the best. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. However, at $300 I am going to have to pass on this one. I am not necessarily awesome looking in a motorcycle jacket. Besides someone is gonna LOVE this garment more than I ever could.

My very favorite pieces in this collection are the jewelery and handbags. The number one item that I want is the leather bracelet ($40)–I would prefer to have the gold tone and black but I really don’t care, I will be ecstatic if I can get either. I also LOVE the goldtone bracelet ($29). I will probably purchase this too if it is available. Images of both are below.

The rings are also to die for and I am really going to try to get one (available in sizes S, M, L)! The earring look really awesome too. But I want to see them vefore I make my final decision. They may be too big for my delicate ears (ha!)

I would also really love to have this animal print and pink silk scarf but I am sure those will go super fast. I may even settle for the blue one if it is still available but I seriously doubt I will be able to purchase either.

Finally, the last items on my wish list is a handbag. However, I really don’t think I will end up buying one because they are soo damn expensive! I am never happy..if the purse is poor quality materials I complain and then when it is nice materials (silk in this case) I complain because it is too expensive. When I am Queen, a girl will be able to get a chic, gorgeous bag of high quality materials for about $50! I am really curious to see these handbags. Below are my two favs. I am not entirely sure about the price on the black bag so I am holding off on that.

 So there you go! The official FFF wishlist as of two days before the debut. Let’s see what I actually end up with.

I am planning on arriving at the Union Square H&M either the night before (friday) or at 2 or 3 am saturday morning. Yes, I know I am insane! But I just want to experience a large debut like this once in my life. I have the time to do it now so I am gonna bite the bullet and just do it. Do you plan on arriving early on Saturday morning? What is your strategy for buying your favorite pieces? I plan on flying to the accessories first, then checking out the Pelle Borchie second. Afterwards I will go to the men’s cloths to see if the belt is as good as it looks in the photos!

My wishlish: Versace for H&M!!

OMG, OMG, OMG!! It’s finally here!

H&M has released the lookbook for upcoming Versace for H&M line that EVERYONE (and their Mom) has been waiting for.

You think Missoni for Target was a scene…just wait for November 19 when the S**T hits the fan at H&M stores in major cities all over the US.

My heart was pounding in anticipation when I clicked the much anticipated link stating “Lookbook of H&M for Versace Finally Released!” I am really excited to see this collection in real life. There are several items that I want and will try to buy when they come out, and several other pieces that I want but won’t be able to afford! The prices were posted in British Sterling, so rather than try my hand at converting the prices, I will update you all with the price list when it is released in US dollars.

Fall 2011 Hot Trend Patterned Tights

Todays posting is dedicated a fabulous Fall 2011 trend: patterned tights. As I have preached several times before, NEVER spend tons of money on trends such as this…save your money for classic pieces that can be worn all seasons for the rest of your life (0r the life of the garment).

Currently, I am attending San Francisco State University (SFSU) and let me tell you that EVERYDAY IS A RUNWAY at SFSU! Yes, I know, I completely belong there.

One of the most fab-u-lous ladies in my department (shout out to Meredith) had on the most ADORABLE pair of tights in class yesterday. I nearly snatched them directly off her shaply legs. I also loved how she paired the tights: calf-high boots and a navy blue floral knit dress. She is too pretty.

Anyways, when I accosted her to learn more about her great toilette, I was overjoyed to learn that her tights were from Forever 21! We both gushed over the great (um, affordable) accessories, both reminding each other that F21 can def be ‘hit or miss.’ Onto the fabulous tights!

When I navigated to the website I found pairs very similiar to those that Meredith was wearing: the Floral Lace Tights adn the Lace Knit Tights. I love the subtle-ness of them! They are just enough without being too much!

What I love most about these tights is the price! Less than $7 for each pair!

Fall 2011 Thrift Store Score!

HI Beautiful People!

With all this talk of designer collaborations such as Missoni and Versace I felt the need to get back to my roots. So, I headed over to my local Goodwill Industries to browse through some used clothes.

While I was there I tried on a few things…a couple blazers that didn’t necessarily work for me (boo). I am on the lookout for great classy blazers lately.

However, I did find a great camel colored DKNY JEANS sweater in fabulous condition for only $6.99! This sweater is perfect for fall 2011 because neutrals, especially camel (fancy way for saying tan), is particularly hot for the season.

I love the details on this sweater: tunic shape, sweet bell-shaped 3/4 length sleeve, and metallic stitching at the hem; all of these dress the garment up. The deep V-neck necessitates a camisole or t-shirt underneath, which allows you to dress it up or down. I absolutely love clothes that are versitile enough to wear to work, school, or play! This sweater is great for any occasion, which is perfect for the lady on a budget. Ignore the wrinkles…I haven’t washed it yet! I was so excited I had to share with my lovelies ASAP.

Adorable but EXPENSIVE & Synthetic Boots for Fall 2011

HI Beautiful People!

This morning I was browsing through my usual fashion websites and I found an amazing pair of boots…but there are some serious problems.

The boots are in the Karen Elson for Nine West Vintage America Collection and they are ador-a-ble. The Moonlight boots are black lace-up with low heel and a bit of shimmer.

Did you notice the price? ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NINE DOLLARS for a shoe made from synthetic materials. That is highway robbery!!

Sofia by Sofia Vergara for Kmart (Review)

Hi Beautiful People!

Todays posting is dedicated to the new Sofia by Sofia Vergara for Kmart clothing line. If you would’ve asked me about this clothing line yesterday, I would have snorted and laughed my ass off. Personally, I haven’t stepped foot in a Kmart dressing room since about 1990…think tight-rolled jeans by Jordache and I.O.U sweatshirts.

However, I headed over to Kmart today specifically to review this collection and I was very happily surprised! The clothes are pretty cute…especially for the price, which averages about $20 per piece! Yay for affordable clothes that are also trendy! Another great thing about this line is that it comes in plus sizes (up to XXL).

While browsing through the collection, I chose several items (tops and leggings) that I wanted to try one. I passed on the skirts and dresses…they didn’t look entirely too flattering or pretty. There was a lot of ruching going on…not my favorite style for dresses. Personally, I don’t think ruching is flattering on anyone. I am not a fan of ruching.

On the other hand, the tops are surprising cute and flattering! There were several that I will keep my eyes on and revisit when they go on sale. Yes, even at Kmart I have to wait until stuff goes on sale.

The Flyaway Cami with Twisted Straps ($22.99) is pretty cute….it also comes in two prints (a green and a pink). IMHO, this cut on a top makes every woman look pregnant, but if you enjoy this style of top you might want to go try this on. I really like the back because it have a slight V-neck, which is a very nice detail. Can you see the tattoo and the farmers tan on my neck? I do work outside for a living.

Another garment in the line that I tried on are the Ruched Lace Print Leggings ($16.99). The fabric is pretty thin on these leggings and I am not crazy about the ruching but the print is super cute! I wish these were a bit heavier fabric and didn’t have the ruching…

My absolute favorite pieces that I tried on were the sleeveless cowl neck tanks (in animal print and black) and the animal print T-shirt with sequins details.

First of all, I LOVE the cowl neck top! It is flattering and modest enough to wear to work or school. It is 100% polyester (and I HATE that type of fabric), but I will make an exception for this top. I love the detailing at the collar and for the low price of $22.99 this shirt is adorable! I liked it so much I tried it on in both animal print and black! Those white dots are on the mirror, not the shirt. I assumed they are spitballs.

The final item I tried on was the animal print t-shirt with sequins details. I actually really liked this shirt as well…it is a cotton/poly blend and pretty lightweight (I would need a cami under it), but it is super cute! Again, this top is very affordable at a mere $16.99! LOVE this! This one definitely deserves an honorable mention!

As I mentioned above, I will wait until the line goes on sale to decide it I will purchase anything, but I really liked the shirts that I tried on.

As I checked out with my cat food, I told the cashier how impressed I was with the cuteness of the clothes in the Sophia line. She mentioned that she also liked the handbags in the collection. Thus my ears decieve me? Handbags you say?…I had to check them out! I liked the small brown purse (below)…especially at only $20! It was 25% off while I was there too! It comes in purple and black as well.

Blue Missoni for Target Sweater Skirt — How would you wear it?

Hi Beautiful People!

I wanted to share and hear your thoughts on this outfit. Tonight was date night with my dear husband, so I wore my blue Missoni for Target sweater skirt with black leggings, ballet flats, and v-neck knit top. Because the skirt is so vibrant, I wanted to pair it with something basic in a solid color.

Fall 2011 Kardashian Kollection (Review)

Today, I headed over to the mall to review the Kardashian Kollection at Sears. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect from this so I went into the store with a completely open mind. However, I can’t tell HOW disappointed I was when I saw these clothes in person. The collection is mostly black and gray with a few splashes of too dull or too bright. The materials are all synthetic – more importantly the look and feel cheap. For what they are charging they could have used higher quality materials.  There wasn’t one garment that I even wanted to try on.

This entire collection is a HOT MESS of polyester and bad lace…! The palette is terrible (mostly black and grey) with a few splashes of color that are either too dull or simply garish. Below is a top, retailing for $42, that reminds me of the t-shirts from Walmart portraying a skinny woman in a bikini that are worn by heavily overweight women.

Below are two examples of the few bits of color in this collection. To me, the lace blouse looks like a garment that was donated to the Goodwill in the late 1960s and has sat there ever since. I suspect that even the most unfashionable hipster in San Francisco would shun this blouse because it is just TOO UGLY! The color is just terrible and wouldn’t flatter anyone. Check out the bright blue shirt…seriously ladies, would you wear this? I certainly would NOT!

While I was browsing throught the collection I saw a pretty young girl who was also looking…so I asked her if she would wear any of the clothes. She pretty much said “h*ll no!” We both decided the clothes looked cheap and were way too expensive.

Basically, don’t waste your time on this collection ladies. It is certainly NOT worth the money. You can see how the much the public agrees with me due to the high amount of inventory on the racks.

Is anyone else ready for the Kardashians to go away? I certainly am. I think this collection may have hastened their demise, especially because they are supposed to be ‘fashion icons’ (my a**).

Missoni for Target: A Triumph!

Hello Beautiful People!

Today is the day we have all been waiting for…well at least me! This morning at 8am stores opened with the Missoni for Target line! Yay!

The Target website has been extremely problamatic this morning and I haven’t been able to pay for my order. I am pretty sure the floral rain boots I want will be out of stock when I can finally get through. But I am really happy with what I got.

I was in my car at 7am PST this morning heading to Target in Pinole, California. When I arrived at approximately 7:12 I was the only person in the parking lot besides the employees.

When the store opened at precisely 8am about six people had gathered at the doors including two Russian men. My imagination went wild!! I had to ask if they were there for Missoni but they were not. LOL.

Anyways, I ran to the shoes as soon as it opened and grabbed my ballet flats (true to size at 6 1/2). Then I went back for a cart and was off to the home section. I passed by the baby clothes and had to snap a pic because they were soo cute!!

When I found the Missoni Home kiosk a lady I was hanging out with at opening was there checking out the rugs. I grabbed both rugs and the last two purple hand towels (one in each design). My friend offered me one of the floral hand towels she decided against. So, I randomly ended up with three hand towels! (the Virgo in me likes even numbers of towels…) When we were finished there were no purple towels remaining. I didn’t even see the shower curtains. They were gone before I saw the kiosk of bath stuff.

Then I was off to the accessories! There are so many very cute items in the accessories. I purchased the umbrella and the infinity scarf for starters. I love the pouch purse and gloves as well. I would like to have them too…but I had to put a limit somewhere. I am not that spoilt.

Finally, I went to the clothes and tried on a few items. Overall, I found the sizes run a bit large…I am usually a large but a medium worked for me in the dresses. All the sweater dresses are lined with a tank dress and they were as cute in person as they looked on the models. I found the skirts and dresses to be very short…really short! So, I didn’t buy any of the clothes in the store.

My favorite item that I tried on was definatley the Pink Sweater Skirt. It is really cute and nicely made; this one was a size large. But it was so short I didn’t think it was appropriate for work, school, etc.

I am still trying to get some items that are only available online: the floral rain boots, the pink sweater vest, and the pink sweater dress from the website.

Just a note to celebrate the fact that Anthropologie is having a 25% off sale on full price Fall 2011 sweaters through September 18!

As we all know Anthropologie is both fabulous and RIDICULOUSLY overpriced…so this is the purrfect time to pick up that great cardigan you have been eyeing.

While there are more than several pieces that would be amazing, I have a few suggestions…

I recommend the Thames Pullover by Moth at $66 (full price $88). This elegant short-sleeved cable knit sweater is available in three classic colors (grey, white, and red) that will never go out of style. Also, this piece is lightweight enough to be worn all year round.

I also really like the Far-Flung Fairisle Pullover by Sparrow, but at $88.50 it is a bit out of my price range (regular $118). I love the neutral tone of this sweater though…gorgeous!

The Bolshoi Cardigan by Knitted & Knotted deserves an honorable mention becuase it is so feminine and gorgeous. However, you will have to decide between it and the phone bill as it is $103 on sale ($138 regular price)!

Finally, I really LOVE the Dog Rose Pullover by Knitted & Knotted! But again at $103.50…it’s pretty far out of my budget. It is still gorgeous though!
