Sofia by Sofia Vergara for Kmart (Review)

Hi Beautiful People!

Todays posting is dedicated to the new Sofia by Sofia Vergara for Kmart clothing line. If you would’ve asked me about this clothing line yesterday, I would have snorted and laughed my ass off. Personally, I haven’t stepped foot in a Kmart dressing room since about 1990…think tight-rolled jeans by Jordache and I.O.U sweatshirts.

However, I headed over to Kmart today specifically to review this collection and I was very happily surprised! The clothes are pretty cute…especially for the price, which averages about $20 per piece! Yay for affordable clothes that are also trendy! Another great thing about this line is that it comes in plus sizes (up to XXL).

While browsing through the collection, I chose several items (tops and leggings) that I wanted to try one. I passed on the skirts and dresses…they didn’t look entirely too flattering or pretty. There was a lot of ruching going on…not my favorite style for dresses. Personally, I don’t think ruching is flattering on anyone. I am not a fan of ruching.

On the other hand, the tops are surprising cute and flattering! There were several that I will keep my eyes on and revisit when they go on sale. Yes, even at Kmart I have to wait until stuff goes on sale. :)

The Flyaway Cami with Twisted Straps ($22.99) is pretty cute….it also comes in two prints (a green and a pink). IMHO, this cut on a top makes every woman look pregnant, but if you enjoy this style of top you might want to go try this on. I really like the back because it have a slight V-neck, which is a very nice detail. Can you see the tattoo and the farmers tan on my neck? I do work outside for a living.

Another garment in the line that I tried on are the Ruched Lace Print Leggings ($16.99). The fabric is pretty thin on these leggings and I am not crazy about the ruching but the print is super cute! I wish these were a bit heavier fabric and didn’t have the ruching…

My absolute favorite pieces that I tried on were the sleeveless cowl neck tanks (in animal print and black) and the animal print T-shirt with sequins details.

First of all, I LOVE the cowl neck top! It is flattering and modest enough to wear to work or school. It is 100% polyester (and I HATE that type of fabric), but I will make an exception for this top. I love the detailing at the collar and for the low price of $22.99 this shirt is adorable! I liked it so much I tried it on in both animal print and black! Those white dots are on the mirror, not the shirt. I assumed they are spitballs. :-)

The final item I tried on was the animal print t-shirt with sequins details. I actually really liked this shirt as well…it is a cotton/poly blend and pretty lightweight (I would need a cami under it), but it is super cute! Again, this top is very affordable at a mere $16.99! LOVE this! This one definitely deserves an honorable mention!

As I mentioned above, I will wait until the line goes on sale to decide it I will purchase anything, but I really liked the shirts that I tried on.

As I checked out with my cat food, I told the cashier how impressed I was with the cuteness of the clothes in the Sophia line. She mentioned that she also liked the handbags in the collection. Thus my ears decieve me? Handbags you say?…I had to check them out! I liked the small brown purse (below)…especially at only $20! It was 25% off while I was there too! It comes in purple and black as well.

The moral of the story is don’t discount Kmart…they do actually sell cute clothes!

I never thought I would say this but good job Sofia Vergara and Kmart!

Josie Natorie Lingerie for Target

Hi Beautiful People!

Lets all agree that the Missoni for Target line was a debacle to say the least. In my best Desi Arnez voice “Luuuuccccy, you got some ‘splainin to do!”

The Missoni launch was such a disaster I have been reluctant to talk about their next designer collaboration…but here goes. Moral of the story: Please learn from your mistakes Target!!

Luxury lingerie designer Josie Natori is doing a line of bras, panties, camis, sleepwear, loungewear, and chemises for us girl on a budget. Lets hope the bras come in ALL sizes not just 32A to 36C…have I mentioned that I wear a DD cup size?

Target and Ms. Natori released a short video advertizing the line. According to the Natori Insider website:

We are pleased to announce our exciting Target partnership launching this October.  This collaboration marks Target’s first limited-edition collection of lingerie and loungewear.  Josie Natori for Target carries our signature East-meets-West aesthetic into a stylish line of bras, panties, sleepwear, loungewear, camis and chemises at great prices. The collection will be available in two installments at most Target stores and The first installment will be available Oct. 30 to Dec. 25, 2011, and the second installment will be available Jan. 1 through Feb. 26, 2012.”

Ms. Natori promises us: “a collection filled with delicate pieces that truly reflect my East-meets-West style.” Prices will range from $9.99 to $34.99.”

Something tells me there won’t be as much demand for this line as with previous lines, but still Target could do a little better.

I am looking forward to seeing the collection…I hope the material is high quality and pretty! I also hope the collection will be available in a VARIETY OF SIZES (HINT, HINT). Because not all of us are a size 2/4/6, right??

Versace for H&M Teaser!!

Hi Beautiful People!!

I have finally shaken off my Missoni hangover and am seeing clearly for the first time since September 13. Yes, I know I got a little obsessed. :-)

I am happy to report to you all that I am now looking to the future and I have my sights set on November 19…the release date of the Versace for H&M line. Just an FYI for all of us 9-5ers…it is a saturday!! Thank you H&M for thinking of us working girls! Now I don’t have to move my schedule around. Stoked!

Below is the official statement that was released by H&M to tease us about the designer collab.

H&M is proud to announce that its fall 2011 designer collaboration will be with one of the world’s most legendary fashion brands, Versace. Designed by its creative director Donatella Versace, the exclusive collection will recall the vibrant heritage of the brand, complete with leather, prints, color, and exuberance in exclusive materials at fantastic H&M prices. The collection will include lines for both women and men and selected pieces for the home. The US will release  the collection on November 19th in select stores. The collection will be available in about 300 stores worldwide.  In addition, Donatella Versace has also designed a pre-spring collection for H&M which will be exclusively available in countries with H&M on-line sales from January 19.

“I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere,” says Donatella Versace.

“Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and extraordinary – everything Versace stands for. Versace is sharing with us iconic designs from the archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and is perfect for the festive season,” says Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.

Versace is a brand steeped in glamour to its very core. Founded in 1978 by Gianni Versace, his daring dresses and wild iconography revolutionized fashion, creating provocative styles in classical themes, all cut with an impeccable eye for design. Since 1997, Donatella Versace has continued Gianni Versace’s work as creative director, evolving the brand into a global fashion house at the forefront of what luxury means today. Famous worldwide for her signature wardrobe, Versace is the epitome of everything the House of Versace stands for.

Versace is the latest couture house to collaborate with H&M on an exclusive designer collection, following the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons, Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo and, most recently, Lanvin. For H&M, Versace has looked back to the archives to reinterpret some classic Versace designs. The womenswear collection will be dominated by dresses that express the spirit of the season, featuring studded leather, silk and colorful prints, and accessories including high heels and costume jewelry. The men’s collection will focus on sharp tailoring, including the perfect tuxedo, as well as belts and jewelry for men. For the first time in a designer collaboration at H&M, the collection will include homeware pieces including pillows and bedspread.

H&M released a video with interviews by Donatella Versace herself and H&M artistic director Margareta van den Bosch.

Personally, I am very excited to see the accessories in this collection. I would love a daring statement necklace and a great pair of earrings!

I have information from a very good authority that we will see more photos of the collection on OCTOBER 20th!  Much Love to my girl Samara @ H&M who provided the 4-1-1!

Who wants the studded leather dress? It’s fabulous…just not me.

Happy Versace-ing!

Blue Missoni for Target Sweater Skirt — How would you wear it?

Hi Beautiful People!

I wanted to share and hear your thoughts on this outfit. Tonight was date night with my dear husband, so I wore my blue Missoni for Target sweater skirt with black leggings, ballet flats, and v-neck knit top. Because the skirt is so vibrant, I wanted to pair it with something basic in a solid color.

I’m not sure what is going on with the wierd blotches on my boobs. That is just the photo…but I digress.

Whaddya think of my outfit? What would you pair with this skirt? I would love some ideas! Keep in mind I have to wear black or navy leggins or heavy tights with it because it is soo short!

Can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

Knock-off ZigZags at Macy’s

Hi Beautiful People!

At the mall today I saw several garments in a zigzag pattern at Macy’s….Obviously, my mind immediately goes back to the Missoni for Target line. I just had to share this because this pattern is soo fugly!

I hope I don’t offend or hurt anyones feelings but…I just thought that this was such a poor substitute for the lovely Missoni stuff that I had to share it.

Fall 2011 Kardashian Kollection (Review)

Hello Beautiful People!

Today, I headed over to the mall to review the Kardashian Kollection at Sears. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect from this so I went into the store with a completely open mind. However, I can’t tell HOW disappointed I was when I saw these clothes in person. The collection is mostly black and gray with a few splashes of too dull or too bright. The materials are all synthetic – more importantly the look and feel cheap. For what they are charging they could have used higher quality materials.  There wasn’t one garment that I even wanted to try on.

This entire collection is a HOT MESS of polyester and bad lace…! The palette is terrible (mostly black and grey) with a few splashes of color that are either too dull or simply garish. Below is a top, retailing for $42, that reminds me of the t-shirts from Walmart portraying a skinny woman in a bikini that are worn by heavily overweight women.

T-shirt portraying woman in dress ($42)

$42 for a t-shirt!?!?

Below are two examples of the few bits of color in this collection. To me, the lace blouse looks like a garment that was donated to the Goodwill in the late 1960s and has sat there ever since. I suspect that even the most unfashionable hipster in San Francisco would shun this blouse because it is just TOO UGLY! The color is just terrible and wouldn’t flatter anyone. Check out the bright blue shirt…seriously ladies, would you wear this? I certainly would NOT!

Leopard Print T-shit (error intended) retailing for $58

WTH?! Who would wear these? ($58)

While I was browsing throught the collection I saw a pretty young girl who was also looking…so I asked her if she would wear any of the clothes. She pretty much said “h*ll no!” We both decided the clothes looked cheap and were way too expensive.

Young girl I met while looking at the Kardashian Kollection. She is showing me the cute shirt she got at Macy's--not part of the Kardashian Kollection! :-)

Basically, don’t waste your time on this collection ladies. It is certainly NOT worth the money. You can see how the much the public agrees with me due to the high amount of inventory on the racks.

Is anyone else ready for the Kardashians to go away? I certainly am. I think this collection may have hastened their demise, especially because they are supposed to be ‘fashion icons’ (my a**).

Happy Shopping (but not at Sears)!

Missoni for Target ballet flats

Hi beautiful people!

I’m wearing my new flats today for the first time. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like they will last very long!

VSo, don’t feel terrible if you didn’t get your hands on them. IMHO, shoes should be functional regardless of the price!

Boo! very sad indeed!
